Scale modelmaking

Print model plans at the scale you need

Resize a ship or structure plan to your chosen model scale, then print it across Letter or A4 sheets at home. Select a known length on the image, enter its real size and your target scale, and preview the joined sheets.

Local and calibrated: your image stays in this browser. Pixel size and image DPI do not reveal physical scale, so you must select two points and provide their known real-world distance. Distorted scans and printer scaling can still affect accuracy.

Example: a 10 m span at 1:50 scale should print as 200 mm. A 1000 × 600 pixel plan with that 600 pixel reference becomes about 333 × 200 mm and fits across two Letter or A4 sheets with the default overlap.

1. Choose a plan image

Choose an image or load the illustrative example.

2. Mark a known real-world length

Click one end of a dimension you know, then click the other end. Choose points at least 10 image pixels apart. The example uses a marked 10 m span.

Your plan preview will appear here.

Two points are needed before the plan can be sized.

3. Set the measurement and scale

Print margin: 8 mm. Sheet overlap: 5 mm. These fixed values leave a small printable edge and help align neighboring pages.

How it works

Calibrate, size, then tile

Pick two points along a real dimension shown in your plan. Enter that real-world length and the model scale denominator. The tool converts the known feature to its model length, uses your two image points to set the plan's physical print size, and lays the result over Letter or A4 sheets.

For example, 10 m at 1:50 becomes a 200 mm model feature. Your calibration points must span that feature accurately. The final page includes a 100 mm check bar so you can catch printer scaling before assembling the sheets.

What this tool cannot check

It cannot identify an unknown plan scale, correct a skewed or stretched scan, or verify your real-world measurement. Your image is processed locally and is never uploaded. Print at 100% / Actual Size and measure the check bar before using the plan as a cutting template. More than 25 pages or images above 20 megapixels are rejected rather than silently reduced.
